We have been living in Charlottesville, Virginia for the past two and a half years while Scott attends medical school at the University of Virginia. Scott is usually studying, so Brighton and I have become pretty creative on keeping ourselves busy. As you all know, I was pretty upset when we found out that we were moving because we have the most amazing family and friends a person could ask for. Its taken a little while to get use to, but we love it thanks to very special friends. Life on the east coast is very different but fun. It is so weird to drive only a couple of hours and pass through several states. It is definitely georgous out here and there is plenty to do. We have gone up to Manhatten several times to visit Scott's brother and we go to D.C. and Richmond quite a bit too. It's also nice because the beach is only an hour and a half away. The history out here is amazing and the campus is beautiful, it was designed by Thomas Jefferson. For the most part eveything in this town is redbrick, black shutters and white columns, very colonial style. As you all know, Brighton and I travel back to Utah every six weeks to work for a few days. It is so great and we are loving it. So for now we get the best of both worlds.

A day in the life of Brighton

Brighton is just enjoying her spider which means popsicle. We have no idea where that came from?

This was such a fun day. Us and a couple of our friends went on this gorgeous hike in the (MOUNTAIN'S) HA HA... Scott and I refer to them more as hills. I'm pretty sure this is the day I got bit by the tick and got Lyme Disease. Did I mention how fun that was.

ok are they not the cutest!

IT'S A GIRL!!!

The ultrasound picture isn't that great but we found out that we are having another girl. We are way excited. This is so fun because Brighton will have a sister to be sassy with. By the way according to Brighton the name is still Cafe Rio. I hope the name isn't copywritten.

Just a few of my darling friends in Charlottesville

Wednesday, September 17, 2008

Every week in the chapel at church there is a gorgeous arrangement of flowers. I commented to Rebecca how much I enjoyed them. Once again she came up with this fabulous idea of having this lady that arranges them teach us how. These are a few pics of some bouquets I did.

You have got to be kidding me!

Yes this picture should have come before a couple of other things, but oh well. I just had to share it. After second year of Med school Scott needed to clear some space for the next two years. This was some of his notes.

We have decided we need to make the best out of the rain that comes pretty often. One of Brighton's favorite things to do is stomp in the puddles.

Oh Brighton

Brighton always say's the funniest things and I mean to write them down but lets face it I'm not that on top of things. So here are just a few lately.

We asked Bri what she wants to name the baby and she keeps on insisting that the name should be Cafe Rio. What do you think? Should we use it?

A couple of weeks ago Brighton said she wanted to say her own prayer so Scott and I looked at each other and said this should be good. So it went something like this. Heavenly father thank you for rice, thank you for beans, thank you for Coke, thank you for rice, beans and Coke, amen. We tried so hard not to laugh. Hey if thats what your grateful for then great. The funny thing is, is that we don't eat rice and beans very often and we don't drink Coke at all.

I AM WAY BEHIND, I KNOW!!!

First of all i know easter came before the Mexico trip, it is just that I forgot about those pictures so Im backtracking a little. I am way behind and a little overwhelmed with all that has gone on and all of the pictures I need to post. I am working on it. I have not been feeling good and I'm lucky if I do my dishes that day let alone BLOG. (Not first to do on my priority list). So all my friends I love you and keep putting up with my way behind blog.

Easter 2008

Sunday, June 22, 2008

So as you all know, I am pretty slow at updating my blog.  I am trying!!!  Between being a full-time mom and working a lot with no babysitter, there isn't a whole lot of spare time to do anything else.  Anyway a lot of people have been asking about the design at the top of by blog.  Believe me I'm not that talented.  My really good friend Rebecca Walters designed that for me in exchange for helping her decorate her house.  She is amazing and we have had so much fun together.  We have been getting together and doing these little photoshoots with our kids.  It has been such a blast and the pictures have been amazing.  The secret garden picture on the right is one of them and there will be more to come as soon as I get a chance.

The Royal at Playa Del Carmen

After much debating on whether we should go on this trip or not we decided YES!!! Scott has been working unbelievably hard and I don't think we have had a full conversation in about four months. His next break is Thanksgiving, so we definitly needed this. Brighton and I left to Utah on the twenty sixth of March so I could go work and then leave Bri with the Grandparents. I flew into Cancun and then drove forty five minutes south to Playa Del Carmen. I met Scott, Cheryl and Ryan in Mexico at the hotel on the tenth of April. The hotel was all inclusive and there were six different restaurants to pick from. All we did all week was eat, lay on the beach or by the swimming pool, eat, relax, oh and did I say eat. We had the time of our lives. The hotel, food and the beach were amazing. This trip was reenergizing and exactly what everyone needed.
After spending a week in paradise, Scott and I returned to Utah for four more days to visit family before he started third year rotations. It was so cool because he spent a week on the beaches of Mexico and back to Utah to do a little snowboarding at Snowbasin. "The best snow on earth." It doesn't get much better than that.

Makeup Artist

I bought Bri an art set for her birthday because she is obsessed with coloring, crayons don't cut it. She must have markers. You would think the markers that come in a kids art set would be washable. Think again. I let her color in her highchair while I was cooking dinner and when I came to check on her, she had worked on this lovely canvas. I asked her what she was doing and she said , "makeup mommy". Come to find out, when I went to wash her face they were permanent markers. I especially love the pink eyeliner. Fabulous!

Brighton's 2nd Birthday

I can't believe it, Brighton is two years old. The time has flown by and I hate that it is going so fast. She really is the light of my life and I cannot imagine my life without her. She is so entertaining. I, of course, had to have a birthday party for her. The plan was to go to a park and have a cookout, but the weather must not have got the memo, so we ended up in the gym at the church. About 47 of our friends showed up. We had dinner and the kids played. We had so much fun. We are so lucky to have so many good friends.

Boars Head

These are some of our very best friends Ryan and Cheryl. Scott and Ryan are in the same class together. Every year UVA has a huge end of Basic Science party for the second year medical students at Boars Head ( a really nice homestead in Charlottesville). It is so much fun. It was so nice my mom was still visiting when this was going on so we had a babysitter. A very uncommon word for us in Virginia.

Hiking up to Thomas Jefferson's house

A day at Short Pump

I really have the best mom in the world. I am so lucky, she really is my very best friend. She came to Virginia to help us out because Scott was studying for his second year boards and was pretty much non-existent for a several months. I really don't know how he does it. To give a little insight into a day of Scott's life, his schedule from the beginning of January until the ninth of April was about like this. Get up at 6:00 and go to class until 1:00. Head to the library with his sack lunch until around 6:00 p.m. Come home, eat dinner and play with Bri for about 20 minutes then go upstairs to what he reffered to as the hole (his desk) and study until around 1:00 a.m. Now that is pretty brutal. When boards aren't going on he still has a very tough schedule, but he can maybe hang out with us for about an hour and that seems like a dream. And remember this goes on for four years of medical school and then depending on what specialty you choose, you do another five to seven years of residency, but we will cross that bridge when it comes.
Now if anyone wants to ever complain that doctors make to much money. You clearly have absolutley no idea what they go through to get there. And the funny thing is that we pay big bucks to have this schedule.

St. George/ Las Vegas trip

My family and I took a trip down to St. George and Las Vegas. We were so entertained by Brighton and Bingham. They are so cute together. They just follow each other around, laughing at one another. We had so much fun in Snow Canyon. There was some big sand dunes at the begining of the canyon, so we took the kids up there and they had a blast playing in the sand. Brighton is only three months older than Bingham. It is so fun that they are so close in age.

All dressed up

Brighton is such a character. She found all of these things herself, put them on and said see you yater. I asked her where she was headed and see said sopping. Funny I don't know where she gets it.

Panache Girls

Just some of my favorite people.

Crabby eater

All I have to say is Brighton is extremely sassy. Scott and I have a tradition that instead of going out on Valentines Day, we stay home and I make king crab legs. Well those who know Brighton, know that she is not a good eater. She does not like the normal things children like to eat. Some of her favorite things to eat are what a crock (spinich, crab and artichoke dip from Roosters), red, orange and yellow peppers, sundried tomatoes, salsa. Things like that. Hey, I'm not complaining because that is what we like, but it is a little different. Anyway this night she would only eat her dinner if it was out of the crab claw.
